batao.ai is a product of Qwikly Labs Pvt Ltd, founded in Bengaluru by two 25-year software industry veterans who got tired of watching great local businesses struggle while big aggregators took the margin.
Over six years of working closely with Indian restaurant owners, salon managers, and clinic operators, we kept hearing the same thing. Starting a business in India is hard, but manageable. What breaks people is the sustaining and the scaling. And the aggregators — Zomato, Swiggy, the booking platforms — feel like a golden cage. They bring you customers, yes. But at 25–30% commission, with no customer data, no direct relationship, and no way to reach those customers again without paying again.
We saw restaurant owners doing everything right — incredible food, great service, loyal regulars — and still feeling trapped. They had no way to send a WhatsApp to their own customers. No system to reward the person who had visited 20 times. No way to ask for a Google review at the right moment. No way to turn a happy customer into a referral. The tools that big brands use to solve exactly these problems were either too expensive, too complex, or simply not built for the Indian market.
So three years ago, we started building batao.ai — a platform that gives every local business in India the same customer engagement tools that the big brands use, at a price and complexity level that works for a restaurant owner managing everything themselves. Today, over 1,000 businesses across India use batao.ai to grow their repeat customers, collect Google reviews, and run WhatsApp campaigns — without depending on aggregators to reach their own customers.
“Starting is easy. Sustaining and scaling is hard. Aggregators are a golden cage.”
— What restaurant owners told us, over and over, for six years
Two people with 50 combined years in software, who chose to spend the next chapter solving problems for Indian local businesses.
Co-founder & CEO
25 years in enterprise software, most recently as an executive at Autodesk. Abhijit spent the last 6 years working directly with Indian SMB owners — understanding firsthand why great local businesses struggle to scale without the right tools.
At batao.ai, Abhijit leads product vision, business development, and customer relationships — staying close to the restaurant and salon owners who use the platform every day.
Co-founder & CTO
25 years in software engineering, with deep experience as an Architect at Intuit — one of the world's leading platforms for small business financial tools. Amarendra has spent the last 6 years building technology specifically for Indian SMBs.
At batao.ai, Amarendra leads all technical architecture and engineering — building a platform that is powerful enough to scale across thousands of businesses while remaining simple enough for a restaurant owner to use alone.
batao.ai gives restaurants, clinics, salons, dental practices, and wellness businesses in India a complete customer growth platform — built around the channels and workflows that actually work in the Indian market.
The platform combines WhatsApp marketing campaigns, customer loyalty programmes, referral tracking, automated Google review collection, and AI-powered local SEO in a single dashboard. Each of these tools is designed to work together: a loyalty member becomes a referral source, a referral becomes a loyal customer, a loyal customer leaves a Google review that brings in the next new customer.
Unlike generic marketing tools adapted from Western SaaS products, batao.ai is designed from the ground up for the Indian local business context — WhatsApp-first customer communication, INR pricing, no POS integration requirements, and onboarding that takes hours, not weeks. Every feature reflects something we heard directly from a restaurant owner, salon manager, or clinic operator.
batao.ai started with a question: could two people with deep software experience and direct SMB relationships build something that genuinely worked for a restaurant owner in Bengaluru? Three years later, the answer is yes — with over 1,000 businesses across India now on the platform.
From family-owned restaurants in Bengaluru and Chennai to multi-outlet chains across Delhi and Mumbai, and from cafés in Goa to clinics in Chandigarh — the diversity of businesses that have found value in batao.ai has consistently surprised us. What hasn't surprised us: the problem is the same everywhere. Great businesses, loyal customers, and no system to bring them back.
The metric we track most closely isn't signups — it's repeat customer rate. When a restaurant owner messages us to say their Tuesday lunch bookings have doubled because of a WhatsApp campaign, or a salon manager tells us their Google reviews went from 40 to 150 in two months, that's the number that matters.

Building and refining with real Indian businesses
Four principles we've held since the first week of building batao.ai.
Every feature we build starts with a conversation with a restaurant owner or salon manager. We don't assume we know what's hard — we ask. The people using batao.ai are running businesses with thin margins, long hours, and no safety net. We take that seriously in every product decision we make.
We could build a feature-rich enterprise platform. We choose not to. A tool that a restaurant owner can set up in an afternoon and use without training is worth more than a powerful tool that never gets used. Every time we add complexity, we ask: is this worth it for the person running the front counter?
Our customers share their most valuable business asset with us — their customer relationships. We treat that data with the same care we'd want for our own businesses. batao.ai does not sell customer data, does not share it with third parties, and gives business owners full control and portability of everything they've collected.
The tools Zomato, McDonald's, and Starbucks use to manage customer loyalty and marketing should not be exclusive to companies with large tech budgets. batao.ai's entire purpose is to make those tools accessible — at a price and complexity level that works for a 20-seat restaurant in Bengaluru or a single-chair salon in Chennai.
